Passalacqua was born from the all-Italian obsession with coffee

passalacqua_logoA blend of balanced aromas, capable of delighting and restoring. For over 70 years, the prestigious Neapolitan company has been selecting the best varieties of beans, and processed them according to traditional roasting techniques.

The result of this alchemy can be savoured on every table, during every well-deserved break, in every country in the world. Over time, Passalacqua has been able to win over the demanding palates of Italians and then international connoisseurs with its flavour and aroma.

A prestigious tale of tradition

Like any romantic tale of love for tradition, the Passalacqua Caffè brand boasts humble origins.

The company is the brainchild of a small Neapolitan entrepreneur, Samuele Passalacqua, who after the war decided to invest his fortune in a small coffee roasting machine. His plan was to create a blend that would replicate the wonder and pleasure of his first taste of coffee.

nuovo-designTo achieve this goal, Samuele called upon all the secrets of Neapolitan science surrounding the 'sacred' coffee break: from roasting to grinding, right through to the transformation into a drink; not a single detail was left to chance.

Today, well over 70 years later, the passion and respect for strict quality standards allow Samuele's company to open up beyond the borders of Italy.

A unique opportunity for a small local business that, thanks to its fame, finds itself alongside the giants of the coffee world.

Passalacqua Caffè quality

In order to be able to offer a wide range of top-quality coffee, Passalacqua carefully selects its beans from 14 countries around the world. Each place along with its unique soil has its own, distinctive organic characteristics, which define the flavour nuances of each blend.

Colombia, Brazil, Ethiopia and Vietnam are just some of the coffee-growing countries that Passalacqua's beans come from. They are handpicked and imported to be processed in Passalacqua's Italian factory. Not far from Naples, over 3 tons of coffee beans are roasted every hour to create the precious Passalacqua blends. In over 70 years, the company has never wanted to leave the places that inspired its history and success.

The 'best coffee in Italy', as the newspapers called it, is offered in 15 different blends. Each of them is slow-roasted and left to rest, in order to develop all the organoleptic qualities and flavour nuances of the beans.

The perfect pleasure in the morning

passalacqua-laura-with-anne-from-espresso-internationalFrom Passalacqua Mexico, sweet and persistent, to Passalacqua Cremador, stronger and more full-bodied, to Passalacqua Harem, famous for its delicate and light taste: each of the coffee blends has its own history and well-defined characteristics, designed and created to satisfy even the most demanding coffee consumers.

Each step in the chain is carefully supervised in order to get the most out of the final product. The coffee beans are harvested by hand to select only the ripest ones. The beans are then transported in jute bags (made from natural bark fibre) to preserve their chemical integrity.

The real secret of Passalacqua Caffè, however, lies in the roasting process: a long and complex procedure, divided into three phases, aimed at transforming the beans from green into dark brown with an intense aroma.

It is this process that releases the intense flavour and dark, brilliant colour that distinguish Passalacqua's coffee.

Passalacqua coffee is an intimate and intense experience, a brief moment of peace in the daily grind, where the only thing that matters is the taste of the drink.

For these reasons, Italian coffee is an excellence in the world, a gift that true connoisseurs love to treat themselves to.Autor: Caffè Passalacqua

What is the shelf life of Passalacqua?

Passalacqua is currently changing the best before date from the then usual 24 months to 30 months. Unfortunately, it is now not as usual: roasting date + 30 months, but roasting date = end of the first half year (if produced in the first half year) and then 24 months plus.

Example calculation for the MHD.

Roasting date: 01.01.2019
BBD on the package: 01.06.2021

Roasting date: 01.03.2019
BBD on the package: 01.06.2021

For the end consumer, it is thus unfortunately not possible to calculate back the exact production date.

Mehari has a BBD of 06/21, since this was roasted in June. Whereas the Miscela Napoli has a BBD of 12/21, because it was roasted in July.
