LaTazza d'oro - The history of a traditional roastery in Sardinia
As early as 1938, the coffee roasting company La Tazza d'oro imported and refined exclusively high-quality green coffees into an aromatic and distinctive espresso coffee. The passion of the company's founders, Giuseppe and Carmela Murgia, was crucial to the success of their coffee blends.
Their love for coffee still lives on in their blends; made from the best green coffees available on the world market.
As is often the case in Italy, La Tazza d'oro started with a small store. In Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia in the immediate vicinity of the Castello district you could find the small store. Many years passed before the company moved into a modern factory building, but in the early 1970s it was ready.
Today the roastery works according to modern quality standards. The family guarantees its customers constant quality and taste of all coffee blends.
In Sardinia, as in all of Italy, the tradition of good Italian espresso coffee is maintained. La Tazza d'oro is today the largest coffee roaster in Sardinia!
Even in the smallest town of the island there is an espresso bar with the blends of La Tazza d'oro.
You will find a traditional coffee taste under the brand name “La Tazza d’oro”, a sophisticated coffee taste and elegant packing under the brand name “Caffè Karalis” and a coffee pod, with a fully biodegradable capsule introduced in 2008 with the brand name “Adesso espresso”.
This is how the family roastery sees itself:
Sardinia is known for white beaches, steep coasts and crystal clear sea water. In the interior of the island fascinating green landscapes full of mysticism and culture. This is Sardinia, an island of contrasts. Here we grew up, here we learned to respect the other and to work with iron.
Today La Tazza d'oro has long been known beyond the borders of the island. In more than 20 countries of the world; from France to Japan to USA you can drink and enjoy this wonderful coffee.
