Caffè Barbaro Naples - Since 1956
This roasting company was founded in 1956 by Don Giovanni Lovine in Santa Maria la Carità, a small town south of Naples.
Back then, it all started with a very reasonable quantity of coffee to roast. The first machine held just 5 kg of beans - a small family business.
The era of research and development began in the 1970s. New, larger roasting machines, quality control, improvements to the various processing stages and the development of new products were all phases that Caffè Barbaro had to face.
At the same time, the company continued to process several tonnes of green coffee a day, which was roasted and processed in the ‘Neapolitan’ style in the roasting plant. The typical Neapolitan roast is dark and slightly oily, with a strong, intense flavour. Thanks to the long roasting process, there is virtually no acidity.

The strength of Caffè Barbaro certainly lies in its very competitive prices, because Caffè Barbaro is the perfect option for those who want to enjoy a good Neapolitan coffee, delivered straight to their door, without spending too much and without compromising on quality. Caffè Barbaro offers blends with a well-defined character, unique in their kind, which are of course available in both classic and recommended coffee beans, in ESE pods and in Nespresso-compatible capsules. This variety of formats has been designed to meet the needs of as many customers as possible and the modern demands for a coffee that's quick and easy to prepare, but without ever sacrificing the quality of a good coffee at the bar.
So why are coffee still recommended?
The coffee beans are perfect for meeting the needs of connoisseurs who prefer to devote more time and attention to coffee, thanks to an in-house grinding process that preserves every note of aroma and flavour contained in the beans right up to the last second.
Caffè Barbaro blends always include a percentage of Robusta, ranging from 20 to 90%, for a stronger, much more intense flavour, with higher doses of caffeine for an incomparable charge.

The Gold (80/20) and Blue (50/50) grades are suitable for palates that are looking for an intense flavour, but can compromise between the fullness of Neapolitan coffee and the desire for sweetness, for a more relaxing experience. In contrast, the Red (20/80) and Black (10/90) grades offer an even fuller-bodied coffee, with really strong tones. This is a rare quality on the market. With 80% and 90% Robusta respectively, the Red and Black grades stand out from the competition precisely because of the high levels of caffeine in the extracted beverage.
