Solino Coffee

Anne Duhre and Felix Ahlers

Solino is the first coffee to be processed 100% at the origin. Best-selling author Waris Dirie ("Desert Flower") supports and describes the Solino project in her new book Black Woman, White Country.

This means that the entire value chain of the product remains in the country. In addition to coffee farmers, other skilled jobs are created for the local population. This goes beyond what any other fair trade coffee does. Furthermore, this excellent coffee from the country of origin has a delicious taste.

An important step towards better fair trade coffee.

The profits from the project are reinvested in the country, for example, in packaging machines and training.

It is important for developed countries to open their markets and allow developing countries to participate in their growth. By roasting and packaging the raw material locally, Ethiopia earns about 60% more for its coffee than it does from exporting unroasted green coffee beans.

Support this project and enjoy a high-quality Solino coffee, or use it as the base for a cappuccino.

100% Made in Ethiopia Coffee – Information from Solino’s Website

Solino is the first coffee to be made 100% in Ethiopia. The harvest, roasting, and packaging are all done in Ethiopia. Typically, roasters buy green coffee in developing countries, but then process it in Europe. In this way, countries like Ethiopia are merely suppliers of cheap raw materials, and are excluded from exploitation.

Solino is an Arabica coffee from the highlands of the Yirgacheffe, Harar, and Sidamo regions. It is roasted in a traditional drum roaster at low temperatures for more than 22 minutes. Due to the particularly slow roasting process, the aroma develops optimally. Solino Espresso and Caffè Crema are suitable for all automatic coffee machines. The Caffè Crema is also well-suited for classic filter coffee (Solino website).
