Caffè Nurri Espresso
The story of Nurri Caffé does not begin with a small drum roaster in a small town. Antonio Nurri did not like espresso at all as a child and as a growing up. He only drank caffè latte and that as a Neapolitan. Very unusual, the Neapolitan drinks espresso all day long. No matter whether in the morning, at noon or late in the evening.
The espresso culture in Naples is unique. The typical sentence among friends is "Prendiamo un caffe" let's have an espresso.
It was only with the new job for Caffè Izzo that Antonio dared to try espresso and he liked it. For many years Antonio took care of Izzo's business abroad. After Mr. Nurri had acquired a taste for it, the pleasure turned into fascination. He quickly devoured not only espressis but also the accompanying literature.
After many years with Caffè Izzo, Antonio Nurri moved to another small coffee roaster in Naples. Together with Carlo Grenci the two Salimbene made coffee famous in other European countries.
In 2013 Antonio Nurri started as a jury member of the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association). The SCA is a non-profit organisation that is represented in over 100 countries - from farmers and machine manufacturers to roasters and baristas.

The aim of the Specialty Coffee Association is to make coffee better and to pass on knowledge about coffee.
After many years at Salimbene Caffè, Antonio took the step to become self-employed in 2017 and founded two first-class coffee brands - Nurri Caffè and Ambient & Espresso.
We have known Antonio since Caffè Izzo and have remained loyal to him throughout all his career.
