Espresso JAMAICA BLUE MOUNTAIN tasting pack

3 x 250 g whole bean

One of the most expensive and high-grade espresso beans in the world: the Jamaica Blue Mountain bean. And its name is not by coincidence – it is grown exclusively in the Blue Mountains on Jamaica’s coast. It was Jamaican Governor Sir Nicolas Lawes who in 1728 received some Arabica coffee plants and planted them high in Jamaica’s mountains. No one suspected that the growing conditions there would turn out to be absolutely ideal.

The cultivation area in the highlands of St. Andrew sits over 2,000 m elevation and features steady temperatures of 25–30 °C. Fluctuations of just 10 % in humidity and 5 °C over the year make the climate there perfect for growing the Jamaica Blue Mountain beans. Over millions of years of tectonic movement around the island of Jamaica, the island was enriched with large quantities of valuable minerals from Earth’s interior. Also, on Jamaica’s north coast in St. Andrew, rainfall can reach up to 5,000 mm annually, which combined with constant warmth fosters abundant fog formation. Under these conditions the coffee cherries grow particularly slowly and in their maturation time develop an irresistibly mild but incomparable aromatic profile.

Harvesting the Blue Mountain beans is exceedingly treacherous. On the steep slopes of Jamaica picking the precious, ripe coffee cherries is a task only the most experienced pickers can perform.

In terms of taste, the beans deliver a perfect harmony of light sweetness, scarcely noticeable acidity, and fruity to nutty notes. Together with the intense aroma and the long-lasting aftertaste on the palate, the Jamaica Blue Mountain bean becomes something quite special.

All three espresso blends in this sampler set have been refined with this high‑class bean variety.

Passaparola Espresso Leggenda

Passaparola Espresso Leggenda – “the legend” – stands for exquisite coffee enjoyment, inspired by Neapolitan espresso culture. Roasted with passion, this noble blend unites first-class beans from the world’s best growing regions.

100 % Arabica – an unparalleled flavor experience
Leggenda is made of 100 % high-quality Arabica beans, including 5 % of the rare Jamaica Blue Mountain variety. The beans come from South and Central America, Africa, Asia, and India, and are gently dark roasted to unleash their full aroma. The result is an espresso of exceptional elegance and depth.

Fine flavors – a delight for connoisseurs
Leggenda impresses with its harmonious flavor profile. Notes of macadamia give a gentle nuttiness, while the subtle sweetness of the tonka bean brings elegant depth. A hint of floral honey rounds out the aroma and makes each cup a special experience.

Gentle crema and mild character
The pure Arabica blend yields a fine golden crema and a velvety mouthfeel. With mild acidity and balanced intensity, Leggenda is ideal for pure espresso or for cappuccino or latte macchiato.

Andraschko Espresso Buena Vista Primèro

The Arabica beans come from outstanding growing regions: semi‑washed Brazilian and Panama Boquete coffees, complemented with a share (likely the finest and most expensive) of Jamaica Blue Mountain. The remainder remains an Andraschko secret.

The Andraschko coffee manufactory roasts each variety separately in a Probat drum roaster. Only carefully selected Arabica coffees are used. The beans are first roasted slowly between 200 and 220 °C before being combined into this balanced blend.

Chiaroscuro 100 % Arabica with Jamaica Blue Mountain

In this unique Chiaroscuro 100 % Arabica blend, Mokaflor unites three distinct varieties: Brazil Alta Mogiana Franca Gr 2 17/18 Natural Catuai – Caturra, Ethiopia Grade 1 Natural Typica – Heirloom, Honduras Marcala SHB Washed Bourbon – Catuai, and enriches them with one of the most valuable varieties – Jamaica Blue Mountain. A full 10 % elevates this exclusive blend.

It is remarkable how this addition broadens the flavor spectrum. Wonderful aromas of vanilla, tobacco, nutmeg and dark chocolate, and even a hint of papaya delight the palate. This espresso also offers a fine, lively kick on the tongue. The crema is dense, finely marbled and hazelnut-colored. Its caffeine content is relatively low. Bitterness and acidity are reduced to a minimum.

A recommendation for those who want to discover incomparable and extraordinary flavors. With nearly every brewing method, new nuances emerge – whether in portafilter, automatic machine or even in V60 or Aeropress, it reveals its unique character.
